Jashak Salt Dome – Bushehr
Jashak Salt Dome Bushehr is one of the largest and most active and beautiful salt domes of Iran and the Middle East. This dome is a natural attraction of Bushehr province, which was registered as a National Natural Fossil area in 2007 by the Iranian Environmental Protection Agency. The most significant and distinctive features of the Jashak Salt Dome Bushehr are the salts of this salt mountain, its unique domes and caves, waterfalls, crystals, and so on.
Location of Jashak Salt Dome Bushehr
Jashak Salt Dome Bushehr is a vast and high area at the northern side of Jashak mountain, in the southern part of the Zagros Mountain Range. This salt dome is located between the cities of Deir and Dashti in Bushehr Province of Iran.
This salt dome is located in the heart of the Jashak Mountain, and lies at its northern end, and forms the highest part of the mountain. Its length is northeast to southwest. The Gonechk village is located at the western side, the Kurdlan village is at the eastern side is, at northeastern side Dervishi village (Dashti city), and the Jashak village is located at the southern part of this dome.
Attributes of the Jashak Salt Dome Bushehr
Jashak Salt Dome is 12 kilometres long and 4 and a half kilometres wide in the heart of Jashak Mountain. The area of the dome is around 3700 acres, and the height of the summit is 1,350 meters above sea level.
The special position of the Jashak Salt Dome Bushehr, which causes the salty water of the river, is perhaps the only factor causing damage to the region because the river water is sweet, drinkable, and usable in agriculture before the village of Baqan. However, after crossing the dome and passing it, a large percentage of salinity is added to the river water, which indicates the high activity of the dome. Moreover, during the high season of the river, water expands over the surface of the plains of Choghapur and Dashti, and due to the absorbance of water, salt remains on the surface and results in salinity of the soil of this area.

How to access the Jashak Salt Dome Bushehr?
The road to access to the Jashak Salt Dome Bushehr on the Eastern side is at a distance of 3 km from the Gonechk village, through dirt road of the old salt rock mine in the area. On the eastern side of the dome, if you pass the bridge after the village of Kordlan, take the dirt road to the dome before you, and you will reach the foothills of the dome.
