Mapar House – Ahvaz
The Mapar House Ahvaz is an old building constructed during the first Pahlavi era. The Mapar House Ahvaz is one of the oldest houses in Ahvaz, located at a short distance from the Karoun River on Khansari Street. This building has witnessed the passage of time and history lies in the heart of every stone and brick. Nowadays, the house has been renovated and has become one of Ahvaz’s architectural and tourist attractions.
Inside The Mapar House Ahvaz
The Mapar House Ahvaz is located at 55 Khansari Street, Naderi Street, Ahvaz. When you open the door and enter it, history will greet you. The first thing that catches your eyes is the presence of two large trees in the middle of the courtyard, which is strangely curved as if the time has bent them, but they remain green and steady.
One of them is a palm tree, which has a special place in the southern Iranian culture and has been giving food to the people of this province for centuries. A little ahead, there is a small blue pool located between the two trees. The reflection of the house is visible in the pool and creates a beautiful image. One of the most enjoyable things to do is to sit on the edge of the pool, take a glass of tea and look at the small and attractive garden around it.
The architecture of The Mapar House Ahvaz
The Mapar House Ahvaz was built at the ear of the first Pahlavi. Its area is 550 square meters, and has two floors and a basement and is covered with a brick facade like other houses of this era. The walls of the house are made of stone.
In this house, two courtyards are built on two sides of the building, one which is currently being used. There are beautiful pools in both courtyards. The ceilings of the rooms are laminated, and the bars are spaced at a distance of 20 centimetres.
The entrance is decorated with dull brickwork. The Mapar House Ahvaz was listed in 2001 as one of the national monuments of Iran.
The Mapar House Ahvaz Today
Fortunately, The Mapar House Ahvaz was not treated like other historical houses in Iran, and the private sector restructured it in 2016. In the first phase of renovation, which was mostly related to saving the house from destruction, it cost about 200 million tomans, and they managed to bring the house to the present form. In this reconstruction, while renovating the house, the necessary facilities, such as plumbing, water, and electricity were restored.
Today, The Mapar House Ahvaz is used to hold handicraft exhibitions, special occasions such as reading, Shahnameh and other cultural celebrations. All tourists can also visit this beautiful old building.
